Born October 30th 1937, in Pastura, New Mexico Anaya is a Mexican- Anerican author, playwrite and educator. Most famous for his critically acclaimed Bless Me, Ultima although he has created many more works, from childrens literature to award winning picture books.

Jimmy Santiago Baca
A Native New Mexican Baca is from Estancia New Mexico. After a lengthy prison sentence Baca turned his life around and focused on literature learning to read and write in prison. After his poetry was published in Immigrants in Our Own Land (1979). He has won several awards including the Hispanic Heritage Award for his inspiring memoir A Place To Stand.

Leslie Marmon Silko
Born in New Mexico's largest city Albuquerque, Silko is proud of her Native American Background; a descendant of Hopi, Jemez, Zuni and Navajo tribes. She is a very accomplished poet publishing her first work Laguna Women in 1974. Her Novel Ceremony has also received national attention she is known for including myth, history and personal experience in her stories.

Denise Chavez
Born in the Southern city Las Cruces, Chavez graduated from New Mexico State University in 1971 and immediately began writing poetry and plays. She has several works in English as well as Spanish. Although she may be more recognizable for her incredible fiction writing, including The Last of The Menu Girls which includes interconnected stories of young chicana women.
